Since 1979, London Student has given thousands of young journalists the chance to write and report on their campuses
Now we are an independent co-operative, run by our members. We believe students’ unions and universities are so bad at running student publications that we’re better off doing it ourselves.
We want to produce journalism that’s undeniably relevant to our readers. London students care about what their tuition fees are being spent on, free speech, safety, the environment, activism and student politics.
We are an inclusive, innovative group of journalists, developers and social media producers who aim to be a campaigning voice for students.
We believe student journalism is too often focused on its commercial potential at the expense of stories that need to be heard.
Our journalism should have a positive impact on campus, shining a light on prejudice and abuses of power, amplifying the voices of the marginalised and exposing the truth for truth’s sake.
At the other end of the scale, we believe journalism should bring joy, entertainment, and even just make you laugh.
For a quarter of a century, we have been reporting on what you care about, and for the last year we’ve been pioneering the most open approach to student journalism.
