Four Letter Word Weekender – 17th/18th February
A “micro-festival” dedicated to jazz, hip-hop, and electronic music is coming to Shoreditch’s beloved hipster haven the Old Blue Last, and the line-up is great. The jazzy weekend will feature DJs playing Neo-Soul, Hip Hop and Jazz as well as some of the best lesser-known musicians London has to offer, including talented trumpet player Yazz Ahmed, who beautifully mixes Arabic and Western music into modern jazz fusion.
Ishmael Ensemble will also be performing their ambient psychedelic jazz ahead of their larger show at Jazz Cafe this upcoming May. From the Saturday line-up there is Niven, an electronic groovy beats producer known for his avant-garde soulful music, as well as James Chatburn, an Australian with a bluesy sound that takes influences from various genres.
